ACANA’s name was inspired by its birthplace in the farmlands of Alberta (A), Canada (CANA) and through generations has become synonymous with quality. Today we craft our ACANA dog & cat foods in world-class kitchens in Edmonton, Alberta and Auburn, Kentucky.

ACANA brand was created by Champion Petfoods in 1985 with a strong focus on fresh, quality ingredients sourced from the region.

The Biologically Appropriate food philosophy was pioneered by Champion petfoods in 1990 by creating recipes which mirror the diet nature and evolution intended for dog and cats to eat. Fresh or raw meat, poultry or fish ingredients always at the forefront of every recipe, ACANA provide pets with peak nutrition, optimal nourishment and ultimate flavour.
